The island is built around a single peak which is named "Profitis Ilias". It rises to almost 300 meters above sea level. This makes the island like a "two faces place", one in front of the eastern coast of Peloponnese and the other that looks at the Egean See. The island's only paved road traces approximately the coast line from Zogeria to Ayii Anaryri on the opposite side of Profitis Ilias. A second road runs through the island's middle, linking the town with Ayii Anaryri. Villages are concentrated on the easthern coast facing Portoheli and Costa (two localities of Pelopponnese's Northeastern). But the largest village is Spetses town, a "linear town" which is built along the coast's road, with its center on the port Dapia. Castelli, where the first modern village was built, extends up the slope of Profitis Ilias as it rises over Dapia. The district along the coast to Dapia's north is known as Konoupitsa; the Old Harbour and the fisherman's neighborhood (USA's word) of Analipsis are to the south of the town.
